Meet Sean Riley

Sean Riley

Sean A. Riley, Ph.D. helps Christian school leaders navigate AI with wisdom, clarity, and practical strategy that strengthens teaching and supports the mission of the school. He serves as Chief Strategy Officer at The Stony Brook School and Executive Director of Gravitas, where he works at the intersection of academic leadership, faculty development, policy, and long-term strategic planning.

Since 2007, Sean has served in roles that keep him close to the real pressures schools face, including Academic Dean, History Department Chair, teacher, coach, and dorm parent. That combination matters for leaders making AI decisions. Sean understands how a policy looks in a board meeting, how it lands in a faculty meeting, and how it plays out in classrooms, hallways, and homes.

His work is grounded in philosophy and ethics, with a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Baylor University and graduate training at Penn State University. He has been recognized nationally for his leadership in pre-college ethics and philosophy, including the PLATO K-12 Teaching Award, and he helped lead a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Seminar for teachers focused on the pursuit of wisdom in the humanities.

Why "EDified"?

The name EDified Strategies carries a double meaning. It speaks to education, the work of forming minds and hearts in schools. And it points to edification, the building up of individuals and communities toward flourishing. We believe AI can serve both purposes, but only when it is approached with wisdom. Technology should edify, not distract, diminish, or replace what makes education truly formative.
